Request Public Information

How to request Public Information

The Open Government Division primarily processes requests for city departments. Some elected officials and appointed members are the custodians of their own records. Before you submit your request for public information, it is important to determine the proper elected official or city department that would have your information.

All requests must be submitted in writing.

- Request for Public Information Form

Please note that you are not required to use the form; the Act only requires that the request be submitted in writing. Under the Texas Public Information Act (Ch. 552 of the Texas Government Code), a request for public information must ask for records or information already in existence. The Act does not require a governmental entity to create new information, to do legal research, or to answer questions. See Open Records Decision Nos. 605 at 2, 563 at 8, and 555 at 1-2.

You may utilize the following methods of submitting a request:

Email: openrecords@cityofdonna.org

Fax: (956) 443-3551

In Person: 307 S 12th Street Donna, Tx 78537

Providing as much information as possible within your request will allow departments to complete your request more efficiently. Information such as: name, address, date range, and subject matter.

You may be billed in accordance with state laws for the information you have requested.

Once your request has been received by our office in writing, we will process your request as promptly as possible
