Is under general supervision of the Sewer Department Supervisor. Position has responsibilities for reports and / or monitoring records of a Wastewater treatment plant.  Inspects and performs routine operations that include process control of a Wastewater treatment plant.  Several decisions are made daily requiring some interpretations and judgment. Render simple public services several times a week.



1.    The planning, organizing, and operation of the Wastewater treatment plant.

2.    Provides a good safe working environment.

3.    Maintains good public relations.

4.    Ability to perform a wide variety of different types of tasks without the variety itself causing a loss of efficiency.

5.    Works on an assigned rotating shift schedule.

6.    Motivate personnel to achieve maximum efficiency to operations.

7.    Overseeing and performs collection of samples, and process testing.

8.    Observing variations in operating conditions.

9.    Interpreting meter readings, and test results.

10.  Make operational changes when needed.

11.  Monitors Wastewater plant.

12.  Maintain communication with immediate supervisor for total plant operation, personnel, and problem conditions.

13.  Maintain administrative records.

14.  Ability to repair pumps.

15.  May prepare monthly operation reports.

16.  Assists with training of new personnel.

17.  Maintains plant grounds, like: mowing the lawn when needed.

18. May assist the Sewer Plant Supervisor in securing equipment repair estimates or quotes

19.  Will perform other related duties as required.



Lab equipment like chlorine meter, ph meter, dissolved oxygen, beakers, etc. Hand and powered tools, lawn mowers, weed eaters.



Position requires working on a rotating shift schedule, varying hours, overtime, weekends, holidays and subject to 24-hour emergency callbacks. Exposure to noise of plant machinery and other equipment; mechanical and electrical hazards of operating equipment; fumes and odors of chemicals (chlorine, sulfur dioxide) and all types of weather and temperature conditions. Work and/or walk for long periods of time on various types of surfaces including slippery or uneven surfaces and rough terrain.



Requires a high school diploma or G.E.D and must have T.C.E.Q. Class “C License” in Wastewater or higher license. A valid Texas driver’s license and sufficient knowledge in a field to perform most normal  as assigned with little direction or supervision. Must have a valid Texas drivers’ license with a satisfactory driving record.
