Position: Full Time Planner I/Parks Coordinator

Position Description:

Interacts with General Public, Mayor, City council members and other governmental officials and agencies.

Job Summary:

Under general supervision of the Planning Director or designee, performs planning & zoning and parks & recreation coordination relating to a municipality.  Assists the Planning Director in all planning activities of the City of Donna.  Duties also include park facilities, coordinate park events and programs for youths. Assists on minutes for the Planning & Zoning Commission, sets up agenda meeting packets, prepares and publishes notices in local newspaper, and coordinates the event request for use of the city parks.  Will process conditional use permit applications.  Will prepare any associated reports on a daily, weekly and monthly time frame as required and/or when necessary and other duties as assigned.

Education/Experience Requirements:

Bachelor’s Degree in Urban Planning, Public Administration or related field, and two (2) years of urban planning, public administration, and/or parks & recreation; or equivalent combination of education and experience.  Experience in a planning department or parks & recreation preferred; proficiency with office software application like Windows/MS Office or comparable.  Incumbent must have work experience with a municipality and/or in a public setting that deals with the general public.  High School Diploma/GED equivalent, college coursework and/or an Associate’s degree will be a plus.

Salary and benefits are commensurate with experience and education.  Position is open until filled.
